WINEMAKING NOTES

The fruit for this wine was grown on the stony, sandy lower terrace of Askerne Vineyard.
The fruit was hand harvested, sorted then destemmed and crushed. A short fermentation followed which was stopped by the addition of alcohol. The wine was then aged in older French oak barriques for twenty four months.

TASTING NOTES

Dense and brooding notes of black plum and cassis.  Coal dust, ground metal and wet earth evoke suggestions of strength and power.  The palate delivers on all counts with notes of liquorice, plum jam and heady spirit.  The finish is sweet and soft but held together by a tannin matrix which allows the wine to keep its freshness.
