WINEMAKING NOTES

This wine was made from grapes grown on both the stony, sandy lower terrace of the vineyard and the heavier upper terrace.

The varietal mix was 81% Merlot, 9.5% Cabernet Franc, 9.5% Malbec.

The fruit was hand harvested between 3rd and 11th April 2014 and sorted. It was destemmed and crushed, then macerated and fermented in tanks. The wine was then aged for 12 months in 10% New American Oak, 40% Old American Oak, 15% New French Oak, 35% Old French Oak barrels.

TASTING NOTES

A dark brooding wine with fruit aromas of black currant, raspberry and black doris plum. Supporting aromas of Christmas cake spice and leather. Toasty vanilla notes come from the barrels, whilst a savoury complexity is the result of careful maturation over twelve months in our cool cellars.
