The fruit for this wine was grown on the lower terraces of Askerne Vineyard. The fruit was hand harvested on 29 April 2010 at 24.8 brix. 65% of the fruit was barrel fermented (33% new oak and 66% 1 year old) with the balance being tank fermented.
Askerne’s first Viognier displays floral and golden queen peach aromas on the nose with hints of smoky oak. The palate features peach, rock melon and mineral notes with an elegant, well balanced structure.
