2010 RESERVE CHARDONNAY

WINEMAKING NOTES

The fruit for this wine is comprised of 40 % Mendoza, 35 % Clone 95 and 25 % Clone 15 Chardonnay, which was grown in the stony sandy soils of the lower terrace. The fruit was hand harvested between 18th  March and 10th April. It was sorted, then whole bunch pressed with fractions kept separate. The wine was fermented and aged for 9 months in French oak barriques, 50 % new, 50 % one year old. Lees stirring was undertaken to naturally preserve and add structure to the wine. 40 % of the wine underwent malolactic fermentation.

TASTING NOTES

Barrel fermentation and ageing on lees has produced this generous, full bodied yet silky wine that displays tropical fruits, stone fruit and papaya with toasty oak and marzipan   overtones and with hints of fig and ginger on the nose. The palate features ripe peach, tropical fruits and papaya with a long, sweet textured finish. Serve with seafood dishes (oysters, crayfish), poultry and lighter meats such as pork or pate.
