2010 CHARDONNAY
WINEMAKING NOTES
The fruit for this wine is a blend of Mendoza, Clone 15 and Clone 95 Chardonnay, which was grown in the sandy silt soils of the lower terrace at Askerne Vineyard. The fruit was hand harvested, sorted then pressed with fractions kept separate. The wine was fermented and aged for 9 months in French oak barrels, 10% of which was new, 20 % 1 year old & 70% older oak. Lees stirring was undertaken to naturally preserve and add structure to this wine. 30 % of the wine underwent malolactic conversion.

TASTING NOTES
Barrel fermentation and ageing on lees has produced this full bodied, tightly structured wine which displays sweet mango, nectarine and passion fruit aromas on the nose with stone fruit, quince and citrus characters on the palate. Smoky oak and barrel ferment characters contribute to a weighty Chardonnay that will cellar well and reward aging. Aging potential 3-5 years. The wine will complement fish, chicken and pork dishes.
